FOOTBALL (11-27-10) – Brush 29, Kent Denver 25

Conner Weisser scored his 2nd touchdown of the game, a 2 yard dive with only .7 left as the Beetdiggers won in Englewood and made their first state championship game since 1998.

Brush grabbed a 14-0 lead on first quarter touchdown runs from Skyler Seewald and Weisser, but back came Kent Denver, which capitalized on 2 Brush turnovers with 18 points in the 2nd on a 59 yard scoring run by Matt Florence and 2 touchdown passes from Richard Yates.

Kent Denver extended the lead to 25-14 when Collins Gantz returned the 2nd half kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown, but in the waning moments of the 3rd quarter, Seewald scored from 6 yards away shortly after Kyle Hefner recovered a Yates fumble. Seewald also ran in the 2 point conversion cutting the Kent Denver lead to 25-22. After Brush stopped Kent Denver on the next possession, the Beetdiggers took over at the 20 yard line with 8:17 remaining and called their final timeout with 6 seconds to go and the ball on the Sun Devils 2 yard line. Weisser then proceeded to run the football around the left side and dive into the end zone for the dramatic victory.

Brush will play Olathe for the 2A title on Saturday from Legacy Stadium in Aurora. Beetdigger Blastoff kicks off the coverage at 9:00 a.m. with kickoff at 11:00 and replay of the game to follow.

FOOTBALL (11-20-10) – Brush 49, Bayfield 24

Eric Garcia, Skyler Seewald and Connor Weisser all scored twice as the Brush Beetdiggers won a Class 2A quarterfinal in Bayfield. Brush, which improved to 10-2, will play at Kent Denver in a 2A semifinal on Saturday. Coverage commences at noon with Beetdigger Blastoff followed by kickoff at 1:00 on 1010 KSIR and www.ksir.com

FOOTBALL (11-5-10) – Brush 62, Estes Park 0

Tanner Morrow and CJ Kukus scored 2 touchdowns apiece as the Beetdiggers went up 42-0 by halftime and scored 20 more in the 2nd half under a running clock at Beetdigger Stadium. With the victory and Eaton’s 29-27 loss to Platte Valley, Brush clinched the Patriot League championship with a 6-1 record.

Brush, which ended the regular season with an 8-2 overall mark, is the 3rd seed in the Class 2A playoffs and will host the 14th seed Bishop Machebeuf on Saturday at 1:00 with coverage commencing at noon with Beetdigger Blastoff on 1010 ksir and www.ksir.com
